Peugeot launches new 607 turbo
Peugeot has announced the launch of a new incarnation of its popular 607 model. The new 607 has been fitted with a 2.2-litre twin turbo HDi diesel engine, which the French manufacturer claims is the world's first twin-turbo in a four cylinder diesel vehicle.
Producing 170bhp at 4,000rpm, the new Euro 4 2.2-litre twin turbo-charged HDi diesel engine delivers maximum torque of 277 lb per foot at only 1,500 rpm.
Peugeot said that the new turbo system, patented with Honeywell Turbo Technology, is comprised of two small-diameter turbochargers which at low speeds enhance the responsiveness of the engine.
Between 2,600 and 3,200rpm, however, the second turbocharger kicks in according to atmospheric and applied load conditions.
These modifications have, reportedly, enhanced the car's drivability and improved torque availability, enabling the motorist to drive at lower engine speeds to reduce fuel consumption.
It also comes with a choice of five colour types, including Astor Grey, Aluminium, Lunar Mist, Onyx Black and Montebello Blue.
Peugeot claims that the new 607 represents value for money as it boasts one of the plushest standard specifications available for an executive car. The new 607 2.2 HDi twin turbo is priced at £26,495 on-the-road.
Three engine types are now available in the 607 range, which are the 2.0 litre 136bhp HDi, 2.2 litre 170bhp HDi and a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine.
