Two world records have been set by the Peugeot 308 HDi 110 hatchback.
Equipped with Michelin energy-saving tyres, the car was used to travel some 1,192 miles using 60 litres of diesel fuel and also managed to journey for 9,062 miles at an average of 90.75 mpg.
The records were set by John and Helen Taylor in Australia, who took the car on a 9,000-mile journey over a 25-day period.
This means that the Peugeot 308 HDi 110 now holds the record for the highest average fuel consumption on a journey - which was previously held by a Peugeot 307 hatchback - as well as the record for the furthest distance travelled on a full tank of fuel.
Pierre Louis Colin, managing director of Peugeot UK, said: "The feat performed by John and his wife, Helen, in the 308 is outstanding.
"It proves the difference that driving economically can make on both the environment and, with the rising cost of fuel, your pocket."
Last month, the company announced that the 308 RC Z concept car is set to go into full production.
