Peugeot 207 gets top marks in safety tests
Peugeot's new 207 has become the latest model to receive a full five-star Euro NCAP rating in occupant protection.Due to go on sale in the UK in 2006, the new 207 model looks set to become just as popular as the highly rated 206, which is showing no signs of needing to be replaced.
Indeed, the two cars will be produced side by side for the near future.
In terms of safety both cars fare extremely well, with the Peugeot 207 setting another new milestone for the company by being the first car to also be awarded three stars for pedestrian protection.
This follows on from Peugeot's 1007, which hit new heights after becoming the first car to exceed 36 points in Euro NCAP testing – further proof that Peugeot make their cars safe.
The 207 uses the same platform as the 1007, meaning it has a string structure and an armoury of safety-conscious technologies.
With up to six airbags, anti-submarining seats, pre-tensioning seatbelts with force limiters and Isofix mountings for child protection on the two outer rear seats, the 207 packs in a lot of safety.
Active features also include tyre pressure sensors, ABS and ESP technology.
