Nissan picks up Eco First endorsement

Car manufacturer Nissan has been endorsed as an Eco First company by the Ministry of Environment in Japan.

The automobile firm, known for models such as the X-Trail and Micra, officially picked up the accolade at a ceremony at the Ministry of Environment on July 1st.

Nissan has now pledged that it will reduce CO2 emissions from its vehicles and development plants, recycle resources and bring down the number of harmful substances its business operation employs.

As a result of this pledge, the company will also be using the firm the Eco First logo in its communications in order to promote public awareness of environmental issues.

“Established under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment in April 2008, the Eco First Program serves to recognise and promote the environmental actions of companies that are compliant with the Kyoto Protocol,” the company commented.

Nissan was founded in 1932 and its headquarters is located in Tokyo, Japan.
