Nissan offers its own cash for bangers scheme
Motorists whose used vehicles are not old enough to qualify for the government's scrappage scheme may find a trip to their local Nissan dealership proves fruitful. The manufacturer has announced drivers who own cars aged between eight and ten years will be offered at least £2,000 off the price of any of its British-built new cars.
Under the government programme, the autos being scrapped must be a minimum of a decade old.
Nissan claimed its offer should help boost the UK car sector.
Managing director Paul Willcox explained: "With Micra, Note, Qashqai and Qashqai+2 all produced in Sunderland this should ... be good news for all the staff at our plant and the British manufacturing industry as a whole."
It pointed out people who take advantage of the deal to purchase the first of these models could drive away in the supermini for £5,995.
Meanwhile, Nissan recently claimed its range of 4x4s was second to none.
