Nissan enjoys sales growth
Nissan has announced that its global vehicle sales increased by 5.9 per cent during the first quarter of its financial year. The Japanese carmaker saw 875,000 vehicles driven off the forecourt during the period April to June 2007.
Carlos Ghosn, the company's president and chief executive officer, said the growth in sales could be partly explained by the recent launch of some new models.
"We are encouraged by the momentum building globally for our new products such as Qashqai, Altima, Livina and Infiniti G35," said Mr Ghosn.
Nissan recently announced that it is investing an additional £2.4 million in its Sunderland production facility in order to help the plant keep up with demand for its Qashqai compact crossover model.
The Qashqai was released to impressive reviews earlier in the year and also received the highest ever score for adult occupation protection from the safety assessors at Euro NCAP.
