Nissan car dealerships may be visited by more green drivers
More green drivers may be tempted into Nissan car dealerships in the coming years, if a new model is anything to go by.The manufacturer unveiled its zero-emission Leaf over the weekend, claiming the vehicle should make environmentally-friendly motoring an affordable reality for increasing numbers of people in the future.
Europeans can expect to start seeing the auto in Nissan dealerships from 2011 and the company claimed owners will not be forced to compromise on performance in order to improve their eco credentials.
It described the model as "highly responsive" and just as much fun to drive as a traditional diesel or petrol-powered car.
President and chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn said: "Nissan Leaf is a tremendous accomplishment - one in which all Nissan employees can take great pride."
In other news, the manufacturer's Sunderland plant recently signed a contract to start producing a new petrol engine from 2010, helping to secure the factory's future.
