Fuel efficiency gauge to come with new Nissans

Nissan vehicles will come with fuel efficiency gauges to allow drivers to keep an eye on their CO2 emissions in the future.

The Japanese car manufacturer has stated that this will allow drivers to gauge exactly what impact their motoring habits have on the environment.

Acceleration and deceleration will be represented on the dashboard dial and company trials have shown that motorists are more conscious with the device fitted.

The firm added that it had noticed in tests that drivers' overall technique became more seamless with the extra machinery.

Nissan has rolled this project out as part of its Green Program 2010 plan, which will see the manufacturer step up its efforts to reduce damage done to the environment.

Earlier this month, the firm announced that it was still expected to meet financial targets for the fiscal year ending in 2008, despite the strength of the yen against the dollar.
