Super mini 'Britain's favourite car'
New research in the used car market has singled out the super mini as the UK's most popular vehicle.According to statistics from Experian, family cars like the Vauxhall Astra and Ford Focus are being outsold by Renault Clios and Nissan Micras.
"The benefits of a smaller car are becoming more apparent to car buyers," according to the firm's automotive managing director Kirk Fletcher.
He added that increased personal debt among Britons mean that it is "not surprising" that the lower running costs of super minis are attracting motorists.
Further research found that 78 per cent of the vehicles purchased were over three years old, so drivers may want to make sure the car is in good condition before they buy.
This comes as research from money charity Credit Action has revealed the total amount of personal debt in the UK.
Britons are in £1.3 trillion-worth of arrears, the organisation estimated.
