Popularity of Mini 'reflected in prices for used models'
A diesel-powered Mini 1.4TD has been revealed as the slowest-depreciating used car in the UK.EurotaxGlass's claimed analysis of the residual values of a range of three-year-old vehicles found the supermini currently has an average trade-in price of 63.2 per cent of its original cost.
Commenting on the findings, managing director Adrian Rushmore said there were a number of factors which help explain the Mini's slow depreciation.
He stated these included "its strong image, reasonable running costs and its high levels of perceived quality".
Mr Rushmore added the vehicle was also viewed as a good compromise for people being forced to downsize from a luxury vehicle in the current economic climate.
Other models in the top ten slowest-depreciating used cars were the Peugeot 107 and the Citroen C1.
Earlier this month, EurotaxGlass's reported the economic downturn had contributed to a pronounced increase in rates of depreciation for large luxury saloons.
