MINI to get added performance

MINI Cooper S owners will soon be able improve their car's performance by purchasing the new John Cooper Works tuning kit.

The kit will enable owners to increase the engine power from 175 to 192 hp, while the maximum torque can be extended from 240 to 250 Nm.

The alterations will help to improve the car's top speed to 144 mph and acceleration to 62 mph to just 6.8 seconds.

Having seen their car get a makeover under the bonnet, MINI drivers who buy the kit will also get some smart styling touches, including John Cooper Works branding on the tailgate and front grille.

The kit, available from September, will cost £1,095 and will take around four hours to fit.

MINI recently announced that its long awaited new Clubman model, based on the 1960s classic the MINI Traveller, will finally go on sale in the UK on November 10th 2007.
