Drivers may find film could help them protect their pockets

Motorists who have recently bought an auto and managed to get a great discount from their local Mazda or Mini car dealership may find a new video can help ensure they do not end up wasting the money they saved.

The film has been posted on You Tube and advises drivers on how to choose a reputable business to carry out maintenance and repairs.

Produced by Motor Codes - the group behind new industry guidelines on customer service - the video was considered to be the easiest way to get a message across to car owners.

Called How to Avoid Cowboy Garages, the broadcast could help drivers avoid shelling out for sub-standard repairs.

Director of Motor Codes Chris Mason commented:"I urge motorists to take a look at the video and see how to find a good garage."

He added: "Don't risk a rip off - choose a Motor Codes garage."

Meanwhile, the organisation's guidelines for the repair industry may be the last chance for the sector to sort itself out before intervention from the government, according to the Which? consumer group.
