Applications being taken for Mini trial
People who tend to go to their nearest Mini car dealership when buying an auto may be interested in a new trial being run in the UK.Motorists resident in the south-east of England are being invited to apply to test the manufacturer's latest electric model.
There are some 20 prototype vehicles available to be leased for a six-month period starting in December.
Successful applicants will pay £330 per month to use one of the autos - and that fee covers insurance, VAT and maintenance.
However, motorists will have to shell out for their own electricity.
According to the manufacturer, the cost would have been higher if it had not received £25 million of funding from the Technology Strategy Board - a government-backed organisation.
The application period closes at the end of September.
Meanwhile, the Mini coupe concept car is due to be unveiled later this month at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.
