Perrys Peugeot on Bilton Road, Bletchley, is celebrating the achievements of six staff members that have reached service milestones. Between them they have amassed a colossal 100 years’ experience at the same site which, in an industry where staff turnover is as high as 40% a year, is an extraordinary accomplishment.
Paul Vincent, a new car sales executive, and Richard Wallace, a vehicle technician at the site’s Pre-delivery Inspection Centre (PDI), have both reached ten years’ service with Perrys. Pete Blesser, a vehicle technician at the site’s PDI Centre, Ian Logan, a Peugeot vehicle technician, David Calvey, the used car sales controller, and Mike Beevis, the site’s regional director, have all worked at the dealership for an incredible 20 years.
“I can’t believe it has been 20 years,” said long serving staff member, David Calvey. “People are often surprised when I tell them how long I’ve worked at Perrys for but, when you’re in a role you really love, working in a positive and friendly environment like the one here at Perrys, you just don’t think about leaving.”
Regional director and long serving staff member, Mike Beevis, explained: “At Perrys we pride ourselves on having a team of motivated, dedicated and highly trained individuals yet, this would not be possible without a commitment from us. Properly supporting and developing your employees is fundamental for success and we continuously invest in training and development programmes to help employees improve their career prospects while becoming more skilled in their existing role.”
This approach is also fundamental to the success of the dealership as a whole. Mike continued: “Employees keep businesses running and it is vital that they are not only trained well, but are recognised for hard work, achievement and dedication. All five of these long serving members of staff demonstrate these characteristics on a daily basis, and both myself, and the entire team, would like to congratulate and thank them for all their years of excellent service.”
In recognition of their achievement, Mike presented each staff member with a certificate and commemorative pin before taking them out for lunch at The Birch in Woburn. Paul Vincent and Richard Wallace were also given £250 worth of vouchers, while Pete Blesser, Ian Logan and David Calvey all received £500 worth of vouchers each. For his efforts, Mike also received £500 worth of vouchers which were presented to him by the staff at the dealership.
