Snow 'results in triple the amount of claims'
Drivers of Mazdas, Minis and MGs may be among the motorists regretting their decision to drive in the snow this week, if the comments of one company are anything to go by.According to Accident Exchange, the number of collisions which happened on Monday may be three times higher than on a typical winter's day.
Chief executive Steve Evans put the increased number of crashes down to the fact people in the UK are unused to driving in snow.
He stated: "Driver inexperience is to blame with people coming across marooned cars and hitting them, driving too fast or too close to the car in front."
Accident Exchange predicted it would cost some £60 million to repair the damage caused on Monday.
It added the economy was likely to lose a further £5.25 million due to work days lost as drivers sorted out the aftermath of collisions.
Motorists who have no choice but to drive in poor weather conditions may find a good car insurance policy provides valuable peace of mind.
