Motorists offered fuel-saving tips

All motorists - whether they own a Mazda or a Mini - can save money on petrol or diesel if they adjust their driving style, it has been claimed.

Kwik-Fit has compiled a list to help drivers keep costs down in the face of the latest increase in fuel duty.

It suggested vehicle owners make the effort to ensure their tyres are properly inflated at all times as this can cut the amount spent at the pump by up to three per cent.

Removing unnecessary weight was also highlighted as a way of reducing fuel consumption.

In addition, the company recommended being gentle on the pedals improves efficiency and cuts wear and tear on brakes and tyres.

David White from Kwik-Fit said: "In our opinion, these are the most practical, safest and noticeable changes you can make to your driving style, without altering your lifestyle."

In other news, the company recently announced it is happy to email its customers when their MOT tests are due to prevent them getting into trouble with the law.
