Mazda increase in Scottish sales 'record-breaking'

Mazda has announced that its vehicle sales in Scotland over the course of 2007 are the highest it has ever recorded there.

The firm announced that it sold 20.5 per cent more cars during the period, subsequently increasing its market share to 3.41 per cent.

It added that its Mazda 6 vehicle was the biggest-seller among Scottish drivers, who picked up 2,450 from dealerships around the country.

The firm's sales director in the UK Jeremy Thomson attributes this partly to its strong dealership coverage in Scotland.

"Our retail market share has improved remarkably in the last year, in 2006 just three dealers were above three percent retail market share. This has increased to 11 dealers reaching over three percent retail market share during 2007," he said.

Mazda has today launched its all-new Mazda 6 - a sportier model, according to Jennings Mazda's Dale Gillespie.
