Green drivers may be inspired to visit Mazda dealership

Motorists keen to buy their autos from a manufacturer that takes its green responsibilities seriously may be inspired to visit their local Mazda car dealership, after hearing about the findings of a recent report.

A study by the European Federation for Transport and Environment considered the performance of 14 leading mainstream vehicle producers in terms of reducing the CO2 emissions of their autos.

During 2008, Mazda was found to have cut the levels of this harmful gas released by its cars by 8.2 per cent.

Of the manufacturers analysed, only BMW performed better with a drop of 10.2 per cent in average CO2 emissions.

In comparison, the typical figure achieved by all 14 manufacturers was 3.3 per cent.

Mazda revealed it intends to reduce the average CO2 emissions of its vehicle range by another 23 per cent by 2015.

Elsewhere, the manufacturer unveiled a special version of its MX-5 earlier this month at the Frankfurt International Motor Show to mark the 20th anniversary of the roadster.
