"Design evolution" continues as Mazda rolls out Taiki

Mazda's latest concept car follows in the tradition set by previous models such as the Nagare, the company has commented.

With greater aerodynamic performance and an advanced next-generation rotary engine, the vehicle differs from predecessors like the Nagare, Ryuga and Hakaze.

The firm stated that the car signals a coming together of real-world technology and new concepts, although it was keen to stress that the vehicle stays true to its Zoom-Zoom ideology.

"Mazda is offering an exhilarating driving experience with vehicles that achieve Mazda's trademark fun-to-drive performance, allied with outstanding environmental and safety performance," commented the Japanese automaker.

Meanwhile, the firm has been busy developing a new catalytic system which reduces the use of metals in its vehicles.

By employing nanotechnology, the company has managed to cut platinum and palladium emissions by between 70 and 90 per cent.
