Car production rises 22 per cent at Mazda

Mazda has announced that production of its vehicles went up 22 per cent in April.

According to the Japanese automobile manufacturer, the figure can be attributed to the success of the Mazda2 and the Mazda6.

Indeed, production of the Mazda6 is up by 63.1 per cent on last year with 13,661 units developed while the Mazda2 has increased 165.9 per cent (15,920 units) over the same period.

The company also commented that it performed particularly well in Japan.

"Exports from Japan were remarkably robust for the month with Europe leading the way showing a year-on-year improvement of 92.6 per cent at 33,487 units," said the manufacturer.

Mazda is a motor company founded in 1920 and is now a partial subsidiary of Ford, which owns 33.9 per cent of it.

It employs more than 36,000 people and its headquarters can be found in Fuchu, Aki in Hiroshima.
