Mazda has announced the launch of its brand new RX-8 special edition – the RX-8 PZ coupe.
The new RX-8 features a good tweaking of the original model, with new-look rear spoiler and rear mesh grilles, improved suspension and handling and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Although costing £3,695 more than the RX-8, the PZ certainly delivers, building on the original's superb style and design.
With a new suspension system designed by motor sport manufacturing firm Prodrive, Mazda claims the car rides, handles and corners even better than before.
And for the enthusiasts among us who enjoy nothing more than the sound of a roaring engine, Mazda has even tweaked the sound, fitting an engine silencer on the 228bhp rotary engine to produce a noise which complements the overall feel of the car.
Just 800 examples of the PZ will be available, although buyers will be investing in what Mazda describes as "…a significantly more focused car".
And with a zero to 62mph time of just 6.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 146mph, as well as greatly improved handling and changes in spring, damper and aerodynamics, buyers will not be disappointed.
The PZ sports coupe is due to appear in showrooms on July 1st 2006.
