Mazda RX-8 residual values hailed

The Mazda RX-8 is able to hold almost 40 per cent of its residual value when sold on, according to a new study that hints at the enduring appeal of the sports car.

In a research project from automotive intelligence analyst CAP Motor Research, it has been reported that the model retains 39 per cent of the original sale price after three years or 60,000 miles.

Commenting on the findings, Jeff Knight, forecast manager at CAP, said that it confirms the model is still popular among car lovers.

"The RX-8 continues to have driver appeal," he said.

"Used car buyers are attracted by the RX-8's status as a stylish sports coupe with room for four adults plus luggage."

In related news, the Japanese automaker announced this month that it has become increasingly popular with motorists north of the border.

The automaker claims that sustained growth means it is on the verge of claiming four per cent of all car sales in Scotland.
