Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe offers record-breaking hardtop

Motorists who want both protection from the elements and the chic of convertibles may be interested to hear about the impending arrival of the new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe.

The MX-5 Roadster Coupe could prove perfect for changeable British weather conditions, since Mazda claims the new model will have the world's fastest retractable hardtop.

Moving from top-down to top-up in 12 seconds, the six cars in the MX-5 Roadster Coupe range will initially be sold exclusively from the pre-order site www.mx5roadstercoupe.co.uk, with the first UK deliveries due in November 2006.

"Global demand for the new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe is already very strong, so availability is going to be a little bit restricted this year," said Mark Cameron, marketing director at Mazda Motors UK.

"We have several hundred cars destined for the UK, but to be sure of obtaining the model they desire, customers should visit the pre-order website and reserve their vehicle soon to avoid the possible disappointment of having to wait until 2007 for the car of their dreams."

Last month, Mazda also announced revisions to several external features on the 2-series, as part of its revamp of the model.

Among the reported changes were redesigned front headlamps and narrower metal C-pillars towards the rear of the vehicle.
