Mazda confirms sales jump
Mazda has seen European sales increase by 8.2 per cent over the last 12 months, it has been revealed, in part driven by demand for new production vehicles such as the MX-5 Roadster Coupe.According to its internal trading figures, the Japanese automaker sold 263,417 vehicles across the continent in the first 11 months of the current financial year.
Putting this into context, it is 20,028 more motors than were snapped up in the previous year.
One of the models launched by the Japanese car maker last year was the Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe.
The vehicle's roof can reportedly be retracted in 12 seconds, which the company claims makes it the fastest roof in the UK automotive sector.
Aside from technological innovations, the model also received widespread critical acclaim - it was named best-drop top at the Scottish Car of the Year ceremony in October 2006, as voted for by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.
