Mazda6 'is a safe choice'

The Mazda6 has received a maximum rating in the revised European New Car Assessment programme (Euro Ncap) crash tests, it has been reported.

Instead of receiving a number of separate scores, all vehicles now receive a single mark.

The rating awarded takes into account adult and child occupant safety, the protection afforded to pedestrians and technology included in cars which can help prevent accidents happening in the first place.

According to the manufacturer, the Mazda6's five-star rating makes it ideal for use in a fleet.

Peter Allibon from the group said: "Ensuring a car is fit for purpose is a key requirement of a company's duty of care responsibility towards not only its at-work drivers, but other road users."

An entry-level Mazda6 costs £14,891 on the road.

In other news, the manufacturer recently announced the revised MX-5 and MX-5 Roadster Coupe are scheduled to arrive in showrooms across the UK in April.
