New Mazda3 unveiled

The new Mazda3 - which was unveiled at the Bologna Motor Show - has been described by the manufacturer as an "exhilarating" ride.

According to the carmaker, the vehicle builds on the qualities which were evident in the original model, while also including improved green credentials.

Yoshiyuki Maeda, Mazda's programme manager, said: "We focused on achieving an exhilarating experience that drivers would sense directly."

The manufacturer claimed the exterior of the model has kept its dynamic lines, but has been improved by making it more expressive.

Meanwhile, the interior was described as being sporty, yet refined.

In terms of environmental improvements, the carmaker explained the new MZR-CD 2.2L standard power version of the model is ten per cent more efficient than the original MZR-CD 2.0L edition.

For motorists who prefer the Mazda6, the manufacturer recently announced an extended range would be made available in showrooms across the UK from January 2009.
