New Mazda3 range arrives in May

The updated Mazda3 line-up will arrive in UK showrooms in May, it has been announced.

According to the manufacturer, the saloon and hatchback models in the 15-strong range offer a more powerful and emotional design than previous incarnations of the vehicle.

Sales and marketing director Mark Cameron said: "The new Mazda3 brings the sophistication, style, technology and refinement of the new Mazda6 to the compact family car market."

He predicted it would prove even more popular than its best-selling predecessor.

Carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced from 162 g/km to 149 g/km on the 1.6 petrol model, from 189 g/km to 159 g/km on the 2.0 petrol version and from 128 g/km to 119 g/km on the 1.6 diesel edition.

In total, customers will be able to choose from three petrol and three diesel powertrains.

Meanwhile, the Mazda6 was recently named Best Large Family Car at the Fleet News honours for 2009.
