Mazda3 MPS 'targeting company car drivers'

Mazda has revealed that it hopes the impending arrival of the new MPS variant of its 3-series will prove particularly appealing to company car owners.

Boasting a 2.3-litre turbocharged engine, the Japanese automaker claims that the Mazda3 MPS will offer the best performance available across the super-hatch sector.

Equipped with the same engine as the Mazda6 MPS, the 3-series can apparently accelerate to 62 mph in 6.1 seconds and maxes out at 155 mph, which it is suggested should be more than enough power to satisfy a demanding company car driver.

James Hopkins, fleet and remarketing director at Mazda, explained why he thought the model would boost the profile of the brand.

He argued that with "an increasing number of fleet operators and company car drivers recognising the individuality … and practicality of Mazda vehicles, the launch of our first super-hatch will further boost our corporate sales sector".

The Mazda automotive company is based in Hiroshima, Japan and was founded in 1920.
