A new collection of "stylish, sport and more affordable" three-door and diesel models of the Mazda2 has been unveiled.
The new Mazda2 three-door version builds on the five-door model's exterior design, offering larger front doors and evoking "movement and athleticism" using compact dimensions.
Weighing 100kg less than its predecessor, the second-generation Mazda2 uses less fuel and produces far fewer CO2 emissions.
The winner of the 2008 World Car of the Year Award, the Mazda2 retails at £7,999 and features electrical power-assisted steering, six airbags and emergency brake assistance.
Mark Cameron, Mazda UK marketing director, said: "Demand for the new Mazda2 five-door has been greater than we anticipated and the arrival of the new three-door model, with its special appeal to a different group of consumers, will accelerate sales to a much higher level."
Since launch, the new Mazda2 has attracted almost 7,000 buyers and raised Mazda’s share of the small car market in 2008 to 2.4 per cent.
