Land Rover – the iconic British off-road car manufacturer – has recorded its best ever single month sales in its long history.
And to top it off, the record was set in a month when the UK market was down overall.
Land Rover managed to sell over 10,600 vehicles in March this year – outstripping sales for March 2005 by 24 per cent and marking the best month of sales since the company was founded 58 years ago.
Each one of the British company's five nameplates enjoyed a sales rise, with Range Rover standing out for particular note as it surged to a 39 per cent increase over March last year.
John Edwards, Land Rover's UK managing director, said: "Spring has certainly sprung for Land Rover.
"The great start to this year maintained its momentum in March with a fantastic performance across the board. Dealers are working hard to satisfy demand and the order bank looks very healthy."
Land Rover's Defender sales rose by 17 per cent, along with the Discovery, while the popular Freelander made a five per cent increase in sales.
"Last year was a record breaking performance for Land Rover and this year we shall build further on that achievement, our overhaul of the Land Rover range being completed with the introduction of an all new Freelander later this year," added Mr Edwards.
