Land Rover records summer sales success

August 2007 was a strong sales month for Land Rover, it has been reported.

The company has announced that it is now firmly on track to hit a third consecutive record year, selling more than 15,000 vehicles during the month.

Land Rover is now 13 per cent ahead of sales from a year earlier and is in its strongest ever position, the vehicle maker added.

The launch of the Freelander 2 model and the environmentally-friendly V8 engine were named by the business as two big factors in the figures.

Managing director Phil Popham said: "To achieve this level of growth in both new and established markets against a background of intense competition is testament to the strength, desirability and relevance of the Land Rover brand and the truly impressive model line up."

Land Rover is an off-road car manufacturer based in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
