Land Rover highlights its green credentials
Land Rover has highlighted its green credentials, saying it was "proud" to associate itself with conservation and exploration organisations such as the Born Free Foundation and EarthWatch. The comment comes as the company launched its Our Planet initiative - a scheme which aims to show the world how green Land Rover is.
As well as the aforementioned groups, Land Rover is associated with the Royal Geographical Society, Biosphere Expeditions and the China Exploration and Research Society.
It is this, among other green practices it follows, that the manufacturer wishes to publicise.
"The Our Planet campaign comes as Land Rover celebrates its 60th anniversary, a time to look back over its heritage, celebrate the present ... and embrace the challenges of the future with the LRX Concept car being shown at the Detroit Motor Show this week," a statement from the firm said.
It also indicated that the company, allied with Jaguar, is planning to spend £700 million on new technology in order to reduce carbon emissions.
Land Rover will be showcasing vehicles at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, which begins on Saturday January 19th.
