Land Rover celebrates 60th birthday at Goodwood
British automobile manufacturer Land Rover is to celebrate its 60th year at the 2008 Goodwood Festival of Speed.The company is to be a featured marquee when the exhibition takes place from July 11th to 13th and will erect a sculpture in order to showcase an original Land Rover from 1948.
Marking the anniversary will also be the special edition Defender SVX, which the automaker has called the most feature-packed and stylish car it has ever produced, while retaining the look of the 1948 original.
Lord March, Goodwood owner, commented that the event "will celebrate a significant landmark anniversary for one of the world's most revered car marques and will be one of the biggest and most memorable displays to date".
This comes as the company has announced that it has produced its 100,000th Freelander 2 - 17 months after production began at its Halewood plant.
