Land Rover unveils CO2 offset programme schemes
Land Rover has provided more details about its CO2 offset programme, which could be of interest to eco-minded drivers looking for a new motor.Under the terms of the scheme, the British-based automaker will offset both emissions given off during production of new vehicles, as well those created during the first 45,000 miles of travel after the model has left the Land Rover car dealership.
And the 4x4 manufacturer has now announced that it will support the installation of a wind farm in China and two hydroelectric generators in Tajikistan, which will collectively offset 150,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
"We're taking an integrated approach to help reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere," remarked Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover.
"We've cut emissions from our vehicles and are working on technologies, like hybrids, that will make even bigger reductions."
Earlier this week, Land Rover unveiled the line-up of its stand at this month's Geneva motor show.
Starring on the platform will be the forthcoming Freelander 2 TD4 diesel automatic off-roader, which is scheduled to arrive at Land Rover car dealerships in April 2007.
