Land Rover Freelander 2 receives five stars for safety
In news that may be of interest to many families, the safety credentials of the Land Rover Freelander 2 have now been formally recognised by the automotive industry.This month, the European New Car Assessment Programme awarded the second-generation 4x4 a maximum five-star rating for adult passenger safety.
Furthermore, the off-roader received four stars for child protection, meaning that the model has received a higher score for adult and child passenger safety than any other compact sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Commenting on the test results, Jonathan Mabey, vehicle safety manager at Land Rover, reiterated the British automaker's commitment to protecting road users.
"Safety is of paramount importance for Land Rover and for Freelander 2 to be the only compact SUV to be awarded the maximum star rating is a fantastic achievement," he said.
Underlining its British credentials, production of the Freelander 2 began on Merseyside at Land Rover's Halewood manufacturing plant.
