Discovery 3 'most practical 4x4 in Britain'

The Land Rover Discovery 3 is the most practical 4x4 in Britain, according to a new survey.

Motor publication Planet 4x4 ranked the motor ahead of competitors such as the Nissan Pathfinder, Audi Q7 and Mercedes GL.

Picking up 93 points out of 100, the assessment was called "a great achievement" by Land Rover UK official John Edwards.

"[It] has proved time and time again it is three cars in one. It has now won nearly 100 awards since launch in 2004, making it one of the most decorated SUVs ever," Mr Edwards commented.

Drivers can pick up the vehicle for less than £30,000 at Land Rover dealerships around the UK.

Meanwhile, officials at the company can expect it to be sold within the next two months, Ford has claimed.

But the automaker added that it may be picked up in a deal alongside sister firm Jaguar.
