Land Rover Discovery hailed for towing ability
The pulling power of the new Land Rover Discovery has been independently recognised, car buyers may be interested to know.Earlier this week, the third-generation Discovery was named Best Towcar over 1900 kgs by judges at the Towcar Awards, hosted jointly by What Car?, The Camping and Caravanning Club and Practical Caravan.
Commenting on the news, John Edwards, Land Rover's UK managing director said: "This award is testament to the fact that it is a supremely able vehicle and capable of tackling anything."
Meanwhile, the judges explained that they decided to bestow the honour on Land Rover's new off-roader because "it's great to drive solo, tows with gusto and is supremely practical".
In June 2007, Land Rover revealed that Freelander sales have risen by 20 per cent in the last year.
It is thought that the launch of the new Freelander 2 in December 2006 may have boosted interest in the brand over the past few months.
