Land Rover Discovery crowned Best Large 4x4 in the UK
The Land Rover Discovery has been named Best Large 4x4 at an awards ceremony organised by What Car?, the independent automotive publication.Indeed, it is actually the third year in a row that the Land Rover Discovery 3 TDV6 SE has scooped the title at the annual Car of the Year awards bash in London.
Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover, explained why he felt the off-roader had received industry recognition once again.
"Achieving the Best Large 4x4 award for three consecutive years for the Discovery 3 TDV6 is a testament to its class-leading diesel engine, its versatility and its all-round package," he said.
Meanwhile, there was further success for the British off-road specialist as the Land Rover Freelander 2 2.2-litre TD4 GS was named Best Compact 4x4.
The first generation of the Discovery model was launched in the UK in 1989.
However, the long-running off-roader has been re-launched twice since then and the third-generation model is now available at Land Rover car dealerships across the UK.
