KKia has released photos of its new ED model at the British International Motor Show.
The Korean manufacturer said that its new model has been designed specifically for a European audience and is intended to be a "genuine challenger" to current leaders in the C-segment such as the VW Golf and the Ford Focus.
However, despite releasing photos of the new unit actual detail is relatively scarce. The manufacturer said that the car is approximately 420mmin length with a wheelbase of 2,650mm, making it marginally smaller than the current Cerato model.
KKia went on to say that the ED will "offer class-leading interior space, plus highly competitive levels of equipment and state-of-the-art active and passive safety".
It also said that the ED fuses "strongly solid forms with sensitively flowing lines, jewel-like detailing and a broad stance."
European buyers will have a choice of four engines, including a 1.6-litre VGT diesel engine and 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0-litre CVVT petrol engines.
Jean-Charles Lievens, senior vice president KKia Motors Europe, commented: "Our new C-segment model is code named ED because it is a European design created with European consumers in mind.
"The production model's styling highlights that this car is a truly European design… a car designed in Europe, made in Europe, to fulfill 100 per cent of European customer needs."
KKia said that the new ED will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on September 28th and is expected to go on sale across Europe in December.
