New Kia car gets soulful
Kia Motors has announced that its new concept-turned-production car will keep its original name.The Kia Soul concept SUV was originally unveiled at the American International Auto Show in Detroit in 2006 and is now set to go into production later this year, with a view to going on sale in the UK in 2009.
It was also shown at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and is set to travel to the Paris Motor Show later in 2008.
Tom Kearns, chief designer at Kia Motors America, explained that the car's name was chosen to give "life" to the vehicle.
"And the word soul is a homophone for the home city of Kia Motors headquarters in Korea, so it is a fun play on words," he added.
According to Auto Express, the Kia Soul has a "boxy" and "muscular" outer style complemented by upmarket trim on the inside.
