Kia dealerships may be the place to go for green cars

Drivers looking to buy environmentally-friendly vehicles in the coming years may find a trip to their local Kia car dealership can help them discover what they are after.

The manufacturer has revealed its parent group intends to lead the way when it comes to green automotive technology.

Hyundai-Kia recently outlined plans to become one of the top four producers of low-emission vehicles by 2012.

The group has set aside almost £2 billion in order to help it achieve this aim.

President of the carmaker's European division Sun Yung Kim said: "The Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group is determined to bring affordable and usable green technology to the European consumer."

Kia predicted more people would start looking for eco-friendly vehicles once the world emerged from recession, adding it was determined to be in a position to meet increased demand.

In other news, the manufacturer released the first pictures of the new cee'd earlier this month.
