Sportage for 2008 unveiled by Kia

Korean automobile manufacturer Kia has subjected its Sportage SUV to a make-over for the new year.

The company has updated a number of the vehicle's features, including a retuned power steering system and an increased towing capability of 1,800 kg.

Further additions from the firm include adjusted transmission ratios and larger brake discs of 16 inches.

According to Kia, the purpose of the upgrade is to make the model an attractive choice to buyers on the continent.

Indeed, they may be drawn to its cheaper price point - £13,995 on the road for the two-wheel drive variant.

"The 2008 Sportage has changed only the front bumper, grille, wing mirrors and headlights on the outside. Under the skin are a number of significant improvements to make the Sportage even more appealing to European customers," it stated.

Kia is Korea's second-biggest automobile manufacturer, behind Hyundai. It was founded in 1944.
