Redesigned Kia Rio Hybrid makes European debut
Kia has confirmed that it is displaying a specially-designed version of the Rio Hybrid in Europe for the first time, in news that may be of interest to car enthusiasts looking for an eco-friendly drive. The reworked model is identical to the version that will be used by the Korean Ministry of the Environment, following the governmental department's high-profile deal with Kia and Hyundia to receive an additional 3,390 hybrid vehicles over the course of the next two years.
And European car-lovers will be able to get up close to an eco-friendly vehicle that can reportedly accelerate from a standing start to 62 mph in 12.2 seconds, before maxing out at 112 mph.
However, the attention of most onlookers is expected to be drawn towards the car's green credentials.
Compared to its petrol-powered Rio counterpart, the vehicle's emissions have been cut by more than a third (37 per cent), while it also boasts markedly better fuel efficiency (44 per cent).
Since 1998, Kia has been owned by fellow South Korean automaker Hyundai, which is now the world's sixth largest automaker.
