Kia Rio gains green recognition

Motorists who are looking to minimise environmental impact, while maintaining fuel economy, have been alerted to news that the Kia Rio has been recognised for its green characteristics.

J.D. Power and Associates, the automotive consumer research group, has placed the Rio among America's 30 most environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Moreover, the Kia manufacturing group has itself been highlighted as a green car producer, receiving a top-five position in a separate J.D. Power study into environmentally-friendly manufacturers.

Byung-Kwang, president of the South Korean automotive group, explained that Kia also aimed to provide fuel-efficiency throughout its range.

"At Kia, we believe that the best way to serve our customers is to focus on what the wants and needs of the new car-buying public are today; this being better fuel economy in all of our conventionally-powered vehicles."

Driver safety is another issue that Kia Rio has received recognition for in the past.

Last year, European safety testers EuroNCAP awarded the vehicle four stars for its adult occupant safety provision.
