Kia announces best ever July sales

Kia Motors America has announced its best ever sales performance in July, with the Spectra and Rio models both performing strongly.

The automotive firm said that it sold some 26,429 units in July, representing a 1.4 per cent increase on the previous year and its best ever July result.

Kia has now sold some 173,007 units in the year-to-date, a 2.3-per cent improvement on the record-setting sales pace of 2005.

Len Hunt, executive vice president and COO of Kia Motors America, said: "Kia is charging ahead full steam with our best July ever in the company's 12-year history of selling cars in North America.

"And it's only going to get better with our exciting and enabling vehicle line, and new product on the horizon."

The group's strong July performance was driven in part by the continuing popularity of its Spectra and Rio models.

Kia reported some 7,206 Spectra's during the month, along with 3,858 Rio's, the models best monthly result of the year. Kia now controls a 1.7 per cent US market share.

Meanwhile, Kia UK has launched a customer loyalty programme intended to communicate with customers at key points in their Kia driving career.

DM Bulletin quoted Kia Motors general manager of marketing, Lawrence Hamilton, saying: "We are investing heavily in driving sales for the Kia range and the direct marketing will play a key role in this.

"With innovative creative, backed up by robust data planning and brand planning this is a really exciting opportunity to ensure continued growth of the Kia brand."
