UK branch of Kia introduces new chief executive
Kia Motors UK has revealed that it is to receive a new president and chief executive officer, with the incoming boss highlighting his faith in the brand's current vehicle line-up.Sun Young Kim, formerly vice president of the international business division at automotive parts provider Hyundai Mobis, has been appointed as the replacement for Byong Kwang Jang, who has returned to South Korea.
And Mr Kim outlined his intention to increase sales at the automaker and ensure that it passes its goal of selling 100,000 units in 2007.
Commenting after the appointment was confirmed, he also stressed his confidence in a vehicle line-up that includes the Carens, the Cerato, the Magentis, the Rio and the Sorento.
"We have entered 2007 with an excellent range of vehicles," he said.
"Our seven-year warranty has reinforced the confidence we have in our products."
Last month, the automaker revealed that the Picanto city car was its top-selling car in export markets.
With total sales of 119,376 units during the first 11 months of 2006, the model outsold both the Cerato and the Sorento.
