The Kia Picanto has been named as the best Budget Car at the Auto Express New Car Honours 2006 awards.
Ranked above the Kia Rio and Fiat Panda, the Kia Picanto was held up as an example that style need not come with a vast price-tag.
Priced at just £5,895 for the Picanto 1.0 S and £7,795 for the Picanto 1.1 SE+, the Picanto is one of the cheapest small cars on the road.
Paul Williams, KKia Motors MD said: "This award from Auto Express confirms what we at KKia already knew – that every penny counts and when you combine the Picanto's £5,895 price tag with top class residual values we have the best value car in the UK."
The Picanto also picked up an award in the Small Car category in the Auto Express Used Car Honour's in 2006.
Furthermore, the Kia Picanto tops the EurotaxGlass's guide to which cars make the best investment, claiming that the Picanto 1.1 SE can be expected to retain almost 47 per cent of its value within three years of purchase.
Meanwhile, Parker's Car Price Guide found that the Picanto represents better value for money than any other car in the UK, with average ownership costs of £1,091 in a year considerably below many rival models.
