Kia Picanto security innovation 'protects car from theft'
Kia has released details of a new engineering technique that it claims will ultimately deter thieves from attacking the Picanto and other models in its range.Traditionally, UK vehicles are secretly marked by security experts using specialist fluids and stencils, which enables domestic police forces to identify motors that have been stolen.
However, the South Korean automaker has pioneered a new in-house laser-marking system that negates the need for time-consuming etching.
And in addition to cutting production times, Kia's after-sales and operations director Harmish McCowan has argued that it should reassure customers who are fearful of becoming just another crime statistic.
"It has always been vital to Kia in the UK that our customers' investment in their car and enjoyment of their car are top priorities - so protecting the cars from theft is essential," he said.
Last month, it was revealed that From the Jam, a band comprising two-thirds of the original line-up of mod legends The Jam, have selected the spacious Kia Sedona multi-purpose vehicle as their new tour bus.
