Kia confirms Picanto is its top seller
Kia Motors Corporation has revealed that the Picanto city car remains its most popular vehicle in export markets.The South Korean automotive manufacturer, which was acquired by Hyundai in 1998, has sold a total of 119,376 Picantos in the first 11 months of 2006, putting it ahead of sales for the larger Cerato range.
Meanwhile, the company has also revealed that it has sold 116,040 Sorentos and 95,707 Rios so far this year.
Jung-Moon Park, senior executive, vice president and chief operating officer of Kia Motors Corporation, has said that rising demand for Kia's flagship models is indicative of the popularity of the marquee.
"In recent years, we have made great efforts to improve the quality and design of our vehicles as well as the level of service we offer," he said.
"Our focus on these key areas will allow us, as a company, to progress."
The Picanto, also known as the Morning in some regions, is a five-door city car that is targeted primarily at female motorists.
It has been advertised on the TV and online with a tagline claiming: "Life is more colourful with Picanto".
