Kia Magentis 'highlights manufacturer's safety commitment'

The results of American crash tests for the Magentis car demonstrate Kia's commitment to safety features, it has been claimed.

In mocked-up impact tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Kia Magentis was given a safety rating of five stars for every seating position, including the driver's seat.

The saloon car boasts several safety features as standard; for example, the vehicle has six safety airbags, including two side-curtain airbags to reduce risk of harm in sideways collisions.

Byung-Kwang Jang, president of Kia Motors (UK), says that these latest results underline the South Korean automaker's reputation for safety.

"We believe with this model, our commitment to building high-quality vehicles with unprecedented levels of standard safety and convenience features has paid dividends," he said.

Earlier this month, the manufacturer announced plans to construct its first car plant in North America.

Scheduled to open in Georgia in 2009, the factory is expected to produce up to 300,000 vehicles for Kia car dealerships every year.
